Prospective Students:  Post-experience process

Several activities will be involved to help students re-acclimate to UCSD.

The Academic Internship Program will conduct a two-hour interactive, introspective, reflection workshop. The workshop will include:

  • Reflecting on Your Experience

    • How does it relate to you, your personality, career choice and expectations?

  • Sharing Experiences

    • Interact with fellow AIP students from various fields

  • Assessing Core Values

    • How do they relate to the internship/career path?

  • Reviewing Original Internship Goals

  • Discussing the Next Step: Internship/Career Path

  • Cultural Re-Entry

    • Postscript: So, You're Back Home?

In addition, each student will be asked to submit a three-to-four page reflective paper on their experience and to present a paper at the UCSD undergraduate research conference. This will serve two purposes. One, it will enhance the students experience in communicating research results. Two, it will be good advertisement for future students to consider participating in the program.

Finally, early in the Fall quarter after the students return, there will be a celebration of all participants to do an informal sharing of experiences. This will be attended by participants, mentors, and potential future participants.
